I love wrestling!

Having been a fan since the early 80’s, I‘ve been watching since I was 7 or 8, that’s 27 years. From the days of World of Sport on a Saturday afternoon on LWT, with the likes of Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks, and a very young Dynamite Kid, Mick McManus and Pat Roach, Kendo Nagasaki, Dave ‘Fit’ Finlay (more on him later.) These men amazaed me with what they were capable of, the moves they pulled off. However looking back on them now (Through TWC on channel 427 on Sky) they don’t seem as magical or as gifted compared to today’s wrestlers, but then old football footage looks slow and unskillful compared to today.

In the late 80’s, early 90’s; I got Sky TV and found the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and then I began to find other wrestling shows Glorious Ladies of Wrestling (G.L.O.W) and then in the mid 90’s World Championship Wrestling (WCW). G.L.O.W was a mix of stunning women (mostly the babyfaces) and not so pretty women (mostly the heels) ‘wrestling.’ I say wrestling because they got in the ring and had matches, but it was basically women in VERY UNUSUAL or SEXY OUTFITS, prancing around the ring. It was broadcast from a large room in a hotel, it kinda looked how Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) or Raw is War (WWF show) when it first started at the Manhattan Centre. But G.L.O.W wasn’t on TV for more than a few years.

But the biggest wrestling influence in my life has to be ‘WWF’ (I love Panda’s and animals, but I still can’t believe the World Wildlife Fund STOLE the name!) now known as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWe) A great marketing ploy to ‘GET THE F OUT.’when they had to change names.

The first ever wrestler I saw in a WWe ring was ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase. I didn’t know anything about ‘Babyfaces’ and ‘Heels’ back then, but I soon learnt. I can still remember the stars from back then. My first ever P.P.V was WrestleMania 5 the Mega-Powers explode, Hulk Hogan vs Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage, 17 P.P.Vs later and I’m looking forward to WrestleMania 22.

May the WWe continue for as long as I’m a fan!
